LangleyLife was a UK Government initiative designed as a free, public-access community portal for residents to find and share information, post ads, and engage with local services and events. Built with a strong emphasis on usability and content management, the platform brought together categories such as News, Events, Community, Services, Jobs, Business, and Property in one accessible hub.

Key Features:

• Unified Login System: Single sign-on for both the main site and the integrated message board.

• Custom PHP Web Calendar: Built from scratch for quick and intuitive event management.

• Dynamic Advertising: Rotating ad banners controlled via an easy-to-use admin panel.

• Advanced Search Filters: Search by last updated date, price, page hits, location, bedrooms, and more.

• Automated Database Management:

  • One-click database downloads.

  • Scheduled database backups emailed automatically (weekly/monthly/yearly).

  • Zipped database storage on the server for quick retrieval.

• Comprehensive CMS: Dedicated admin screens for each main category with simple navigation for managing news, properties, jobs, events, and community listings.

• Profile Management: Admins can search profiles, expire or renew them, and update details instantly.

• Full Content Control: Add, edit, delete, and update all site content directly from the admin panel.

Outcome:

Although not live due to project closure, LangleyLife demonstrated a scalable, secure, and highly functional approach to building a community-driven information hub—ready to support local engagement on a wide scale.
